The UF Cardiovascular Cell Therapy Clinical Center is dedicated to adult stem cell research to improve the outcome of patients with diseases of the heart and cardiovascular system.

For people who have had a heart attack, angina or heart failure, standard treatments may stabilize the condition, but will not restore heart function to its previous condition. Additionally, some people with heart disease may not be eligible for today's standard treatments.

Recent studies have shown promise in the use of adult stem cells—specialized cells capable of stimulating the repair and regeneration of blood vessels and heart muscle, which may reverse damage caused by a heart attack.

The UF Center is actively enrolling patients as one of the seven-center NHLBI-sponsored Cardiovascular Cell Therapy Research Network (CCTRN) and as part of several industry-sponsored projects.
